Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Author Guidelines

1. Aim and Scope

The Quest Journal of Education (QJOE) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal committed to advancing knowledge, research, and practice in the field of education. The journal provides a platform for academics, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to disseminate high-quality and impactful research.

QJOE welcomes original contributions in, but not limited to, the following areas:

  1. Teaching and learning methodologies
  2. Curriculum design and development
  3. Educational leadership and management
  4. Teacher education and professional development
  5. Educational technology and digital learning
  6. Inclusive and special education
  7. Educational psychology, learning sciences, and students’ well-being
  8. Policy analysis and education reform
  9. Assessment, evaluation, and measurement
  10. Lifelong learning and adult education
  11. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education
  12. Comparative and international education


2. Types of Manuscripts Accepted

QJOE publishes the following categories of scholarly work:

  • Empirical Research Articles: Reports of original quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods research (5,000-10,000 words).
  • Review Articles: Comprehensive and critical syntheses of existing literature (5,000-9000 words).
  • Case Studies: In-depth analyses of educational practices, interventions, or innovations (2000-3500 words).
  • Policy Briefs/Communications: Evidence-based discussions and recommendations on educational policy issues (1,500 and 3,000 words).

3. General Submission Requirements

Authors are required to adhere to the following conditions:

  • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Submissions must not contain plagiarized content; similarity checks may be conducted.
  • Authors should maintain consistency in language, using either British or American English throughout.
  • All manuscripts must be submitted electronically via:

  • Ethical clearance must be obtained for studies involving human participants or sensitive data.
  • Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest.

4. Manuscript Structure

All submissions should be organized as follows:

4.1 Title Page

  • Concise and informative title
  • Full names of all authors
  • Institutional affiliations (including country)
  • Corresponding author’s name and email address

4.2 Abstract

  • Word limit: 150–250 words
  • Must clearly state:
    • Purpose of the study
    • Methodology
    • Results
    • Conclusions
    • Recommendations

4.3 Keywords

  • Provide 4–6 keywords that accurately reflect the content of the manuscript

4.4 Main Text

The body of the manuscript should include:

  1. Introduction
    • Background and context
    • Objectives and/or research questions/hypotheses
  2. Literature Review
    • Relevant theoretical and empirical studies
    • Identification of knowledge gaps
  3. Methodology
    • Research design
    • Population/sample
    • Data collection instruments
    • Procedures
    • Data analysis methods
  4. Results
    • Presentation of findings using text, tables, and figures where appropriate
  5. Discussion
    • Interpretation of findings
    • Comparison with existing literature
  6. Conclusion and Recommendations
    • Summary of key findings
    • Practical and/or policy implications
    • Suggestions for future research

5. Formatting Guidelines

Authors must adhere strictly to the following formatting requirements:

  • Font Style:
    • Titles and subheadings: Times New Roman
    • Main text: Arial
  • Font Size: 12-point
  • Line Spacing: 1.5 or double spacing
  • Margins: Minimum of 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides
  • Alignment: Justified text

6. Tables and Figures

  • Tables must be clearly labelled and captioned above the table.
  • Figures (charts, graphs, images) must be captioned below the figure.
  • All tables and figures must be referenced in the text.
  • Ensure high-resolution images suitable for publication.

7. Referencing Style

  • QJOE adopts the APA Referencing Style (7th Edition).
  • All in-text citations must correspond accurately with the reference list.
  • Authors are responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of references.

8. Ethical Considerations

  • Research involving human participants must comply with ethical standards and include evidence of approval from a recognized ethics committee.
  • Authors must obtain informed consent from participants where applicable.
  • Any form of academic misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data fabrication) will result in rejection or retraction.

9. Review and Publication Process

  • All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process.
  • Authors may be required to revise their manuscripts based on reviewers’ comments.
  • Final acceptance is subject to editorial approval.

10. Copyright and Licensing

  • Upon acceptance, authors may be required to transfer copyright or grant publishing rights to QJOE.
  • Authors retain responsibility for the content of their work.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
